Era of Stonepig Locations
Stonepig
Stonepig was the first settlement attempt, but failed due to harsh summers and crop disease. The group decided it was better to move to a more cropping-friendly location.
Some say the settlers kept some stalactites from the original cave, as a reminder of how far they've come.
Era of Saltpig Locations
Stonepig
A temporary holding inside an extinct volcano, due to an extreme winter. It provided needed shelter and warmth for the migrants away from Stonepig, for a short time before moving on to greater lands.
A collector is rumored to have a chunk of Basalt from saltpig, a reminder of comfort and warmth during harsh conditions
Era of Founding Locations
Frostgap
Frostgap was an experiment in settling in harsh conditions - The lessons learnt from Stonepig and Saltpig were brutal, and the fresh arrivals wanted to ensure that it didn't happen again.
Some architects decided to create a sub-group and dig into the ground, using the thermal heat as a barrier against the brutal cold.
Digging commenced during the warmer months, when supplied could be ferried across from the various hamlets in the surrounds. Eventually, they breached the deepslate and found a consistent source of lava to warm the lower parts of Frostgap. Unexpectedly and to the architects dismay, the heat only ventured so far up the settlement - leaving the upper regions to the colds wrath.
This created a class system, where the closer you were to the warming lava the more wealthy you needed to be. People near the bottom enjoyed imported luxuries like jewellery, exotic foods and rich experiences while the people near the top subsisted on bread, melted snow and other basic foods. The working class near the top worked for scraps, while the rich at the bottom lived lives of relaxation and warmth.
Eventually, the workers could subsist no more - They revolted en mass, and tore down the wealthy classes stores, living quarters and simple pleasures and once the damage was done, moved to new areas. Anything was better than the cold, so they migrated to the West to warmer and more stable conditions. A ruinous frostgap was left to rot, with only remnants of the once oppressive society to be discovered
In the Melale museum, there's a bucket of lava straight from the pits of Frostgap, with some information about it's uses within the colony.
Halle
forestry/farming colony, mainly farming berries. turned mining colony with a goal of expanding national wealth, quality of life and food output forestry was a national passion as well as an industry
Well known for it's rabbit stew, as rabbit hutches were commonly found during logging operations. Rabbit stew from Halle is well regarded as a culinary delight for the region, and many merchants have travelled far distances to buy it for the wider country (and eat it themselves!)
Halle Rabbit Stew is a delicacy across the entire continent, and is frequently found in all food stores of major towns.
South Donie Trading Co
A manufacturing conglomerate with a presence on the continent of Old Celestials, providing much needed construction material support and is responsible for funding the successful initial founding.
South Donei is a part of a larger group that resides with Donei, a thriving capital in a different continent. They often participate in new settlements and provide some foundation to develop from, in exchange for some influence in the local politics.
They are often seen as benevolent, and are by reasons of exposure familiar with the Forerunners work, albeit uninterested in mystical games. They are often creating complex automation and machinery to process materials, and are well regarded for their engineering and business acumen.
Eventually however, as with all good business, competition arises and reduced the monopoly reliance of South Donei to a more healthier industrial environment, and it was retired in favour of a newer enterprise in New Celestials.
The area deed for the original settlement in Celestial's can be found in the Donei Hall of Fame, and is a legendary relic among the entrepreneurs of Donie.
We Are Evil
We Are Evil are prolific slave traders, but as a result acquired intense understanding of logistics. As a result was the main logistical supplier of Old Celestials, helping ship materials around the continent. The dark past is often ignored out of necessity by the citizens of Old Celestials, as without their critical trade routes much needed materials would be unavailable to the vast majority of settlements, creating a seedy dark underbelly that receives a blind eye.
However, eventually the underbelly shows its stripes, and with a mixture of public outcry, ethical alternatives and an increase in human rights made the slave trade nonviable, and as a result this was retired in favour of a more ethical, consumer friendly logistics company in Celestials.
Some say the old slaver routes can still be found, somewhere hidden in Celestials. While valuable for the old continent, it's not as relevant for the current continent and holds more historical value, rather than monetary.
